Sam Gamgee
This is one of a series of commissions of all the LOTR heroes. Next up - if I ever get to it - is a piece putting all the LOTR villains in one picture. Should be fun!

Cat's Paw Mage - ACAD 46
Yes, it is a mage, a being of immense power, yet it is merely a plaything, a cat's paw, of a force or consciousness far beyond it's capabilities or understanding ... but it is no less dangerous or ruthless for all that ....

Zeredel the Prophet - ACAD 45
The iniquities of the people obsess and madden him, so he carries a stick to admonish, and a snake to punish. He is considered a prophet ....

Overlord Gillan - ACAD 44
Scion of a storied race, Overlord Gillan rarely ventures above the waters of his beloved Western Sea. Yet he can function quite in the sea of air that lies above his home, tread the land like the nobility that he is, and dominate its denizens just as he dominates the dwellers in the depths. That he so seldom is seen on land is merely a measure of his contempt for the surface world, and all that have left the bosom of the mother ocean .....

Carcanodon - ACAD 43
Carcanodon ... the true ultimate predator of ancient seas, not natural and bred in brine, but introduced by human extra-temporal agency - in other words, time travelling rogue geneticists. This mighty creature could kill and devour even the massive Kronosaurus ....

Princess of Silk and Night - ACAD 42
She is royalty, born of royalty, born of royalty from time immemorial. She commands not only the beings that orbit ceaselessly around her, catering to her needs, but the very elements themselves are hers to manipulate and shape as she sees fit. She conceives of no power greater than hers and that, in the end, will be her tragedy ....

Lucinda - ACAD 40
Lucinda is a member of Lady Aurelia's crew, the crew of the legendary, almost mythical ship, the Swallow. And the rumours are true ... all of the crew were female, and no man ever trod the decks of the Swallow ... as a free man.
Of Lucinda's past, like so many on Lady A's ship, we know next to nothing, save that she hailed from Scotland, and joined the crew as a mere teenager. Her strength and calm were famous, her life was short, and the enemies she laid low were many ...

Crazan - ACAD 39
Despite his tiny eyes Crazan is the very soul of vigilance. Possessed of superb hearing and an excellent sense of smell, very little passes him alive. Yet there is no malice in him, just an exaggerated sense of duty, and a loyalty to a master who deserves no such thing.

Bethany's Dragon - ACAD 38
In a dream Bethany imagined a dragon, but never imagined this amphibious thing, truly at home neither in the water nor in the air, ferocious in its frustration and fury ....
Tarzan - ACAD 37
My ACAD look at Tarzan ... often he is depicted as someone .... well scrubbed and civilized, but this is a man who can take on full grown wild animals - armed with little more than his bare hands - and kill them. He is a savage hybrid of the world of man and the wild, not a savage himself, but with all the ferocity of the apes that raised him .....

Furnal Cat ACAD 36
For this Furnal cat fire, flame and heat are everyday necessities. She bathes in molten lava, and exhales a veritable miasma of smoke and sulphur. All this, so destructive to normal forms of life, is health and vigour for her, her bread and butter, her ground of being. Yet she can still walk in our world, and thrive, and interact with more delicate beings ....

Fairy - ACAD 35
My first ACAD look at a fairy - a youthful one in this case, with her wings not yet fully developed, either in size or in full panoply of pattern, shape and contrast.
